Experiences with Trustpilot

Trustpilot, a popular online review platform, markets itself as a trustworthy source for consumers to share their experiences with businesses. However, recent experiences with this platform and complaints of EBKE clients suggest that the platform is not as impartial or reliable as it claims to be. Allegations of Trustpilot removing legitimate positive reviews while allowing negative ones to remain unchecked have tarnished its reputation and raised serious questions about its integrity and operational transparency.

The problem with positive reviews

Many businesses and individual users have come forward with troubling accounts of their positive reviews being inexplicably removed or filtered out by Trustpilot. These reviews, often verified and backed by genuine transactions, are said to be disappearing without clear explanations. Users who have taken the time to share their positive experiences are left frustrated and disillusioned, questioning the platform’s motives and fairness.

One EBKE client recounted their experience: “I wrote a detailed, positive review about my experience with my EBKE that provided excellent service. To my surprise, the review was removed within 30 minutes to one hour, with no explanation from Trustpilot. I tried to contact their support, but I received a generic response that didn’t address my concerns.” All I got was standard replies that the removal was according their guidelines.

The impact on businesses

For us as a businesses, the removal of positive reviews can have dire consequences. Positive customer feedback is crucial for building our credibility and attracting new clients. When these reviews are arbitrarily deleted, it not only undermines the hard work of businesses but also skews the overall perception potential customers might have. It doesn’t mean that we don’t make a mistake but we can also be rewarded for our customer satisfaction.

The bias toward negative reviews

Compounding the issue is the allegation that Trustpilot tends to leave negative reviews unchallenged, even when they may be false or malicious. Businesses have reported difficulties in getting defamatory or misleading reviews removed, despite providing evidence to support their claims. This perceived bias towards negative content further exacerbates the platform’s credibility crisis.

One fellow business owner expressed his concerns to us: “We’ve had a few negative reviews that were clearly from competitors trying to sabotage our reputation. Despite submitting proof to Trustpilot, those reviews are still up. It feels like the platform is more interested in sensationalism than fairness.”

Lack of transparency and accountability

The frustration increased when we left negative reviews for Trustpilot with the same text as the negative reviews on our page. These reviews were removed very quickly. Although it was based on a real, negative experience, Trustpilot was vague about the reasons and came again with their guidelines. They even called our reviews fake although we have been in contact with them. We also wrote the reviews under our company name so nothing illegal or anonymous. These guidelines obviously have a different meaning for them. In order to get more clarity we have hired legal support in Copenhagen to get to the bottom of this. We can already conclude that the rating of Trustpilot can not be trusted.

We call other companies with the same experience to contact us.
